Though tiger butter is a tradition in many families, I had never heard of it before this year.  Coming from a family that loooves the peanut butter/chocolate combo, I had to make it.  My mom used to live for the holiday Reese’s candies (the eggs at Easter, the pumpkins at Halloween, etc.).  Why do they taste so good? 

So, anyway, tiger butter tastes like those really good Reese’s.  This stuff melts in your mouth.  And it is so easy to make that you will be giving it as a gift for every holiday possible.  “Happy Flag Day!  Here’s some tiger butter!”

Here are the deets (I got this recipe online, but I don’t remember where and it is pretty much on every cooking website known to man, so narrowing it down would be pretty impossible):

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (you can also use crunchy, but it takes away from the whole “melt in your mouth” factor for me)

Melt the semi-sweet chips (one minute in the microwave, stir, 30 seconds, stir, etc) and spread them on the bottom of a parchment-lined 8×8 – or near that – baking pan.  Next, melt the white chocolate chips with the peanut butter (usually only takes a minute in the microwave) and stir them until they are one delicious, liquidy concoction.  Whatever you use to stir it with will be a good licking spoon at the end.  Pour the peanut butter/ white chocolate on top of the semisweet chocolate.  Then use a spatula or an offset spatula to spread the peanut butter mixture to cover the whole semi-sweet area.  After that, take a butter knife and swirl the two together.  You essentially want to make tiger stripes, hence the name tiger butter.  Throw the pan into the fridge for an hour or so and then cut it up.  Easy as pie!….errr…. Easy as tiger butter!
